Women Moving Millions (WMM) is seeking an experienced Director of Marketing and Communications to lead the organisation’s marketing, communications and brand strategy. The full-time position is based in New York, United States, with a hybrid arrangement, while remote candidates are also welcome, with a preference for applicants based on the U.S. East Coast.

The position offers a competitive annual salary of US$115,000–US$140,000 and is expected to start as soon as possible. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction and operational oversight for WMM’s communications and marketing activities, ensuring that the organisation’s mission, values and strategic priorities are effectively communicated to members, partners and the wider gender equality ecosystem.

About Women Moving Millions

Women Moving Millions is an impact-driven community focused on mobilising resources to advance gender equality. Its membership consists of approximately 400 philanthropists and leaders who have collectively committed more than US$1 billion to improving the lives of women and girls.

The organisation seeks to transform philanthropy and investment by encouraging more collaborative leadership, resource mobilisation, social capital and expertise. Through its network, WMM aims to remove barriers for leaders and innovators while inspiring greater and bolder investment in gender equality.

Role and Responsibilities

The Director of Marketing and Communications will develop, implement and regularly evaluate an integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned with WMM’s mission and organisational priorities.

The successful candidate will work closely with leadership to establish the editorial vision, messaging frameworks and content priorities across communication channels. The role will also involve developing an annual communications and marketing workplan that aligns with organisational objectives and the events calendar.

Working alongside programme and member engagement teams, the Director will create innovative communication strategies that ensure members receive timely and relevant information about WMM, its partners and developments within the broader gender equality movement.

A major responsibility will be overseeing the organisation’s 20th anniversary campaign, including campaign planning, messaging, creative production and marketing materials.

The Director will also safeguard WMM’s brand identity across digital, print, social media and event materials, ensuring consistency and high-quality visual communication.

Digital Marketing and Communications

The position will provide strategic oversight of WMM’s website, including digital storytelling, online engagement and multimedia initiatives.

The Director will lead email marketing campaigns designed to strengthen engagement and organisational growth. This will involve using audience insights and performance data to improve campaigns, refine communications strategies and enhance the experience of members and the wider community.

The role will also oversee public relations support through external vendors and ensure that agency activities remain aligned with WMM’s broader communications strategy.

Team Leadership

The Director will supervise the Communications Manager, whose responsibilities include member communications, social media and website management.

The successful candidate will provide clear direction, professional development support and regular feedback while fostering a collaborative and high-performing communications function.

Because WMM operates with a relatively small team, the Director must be comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates should demonstrate exceptional project management skills and experience developing marketing and storytelling strategies informed by analytics and audience insights.

Strong knowledge of brand strategy, visual identity systems and design principles is required, including typography, layout, imagery and consistent brand expression across communication channels.

Applicants should also have experience with email marketing, audience segmentation, marketing automation and performance analytics.

Experience managing websites, Google Analytics, SEO and search best practices is important. The successful candidate should be able to use website and audience data to improve digital performance, engagement and reach.

Knowledge of emerging digital marketing platforms, technologies and trends is also desirable, particularly the ability to identify and implement innovative approaches that strengthen communications and audience engagement.

Experience working with membership-based networks would be an advantage.

Location, Salary and Start Date

The position is full-time and based in New York, NY, with a hybrid working arrangement. Remote candidates are welcome, with East Coast-based applicants preferred.

The compensation range is US$115,000–US$140,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. The anticipated start date is as soon as possible.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter and additional responses through the organisation’s designated application form.

Applicants should demonstrate their experience in strategic communications, marketing, digital engagement, brand management, storytelling, analytics and team leadership. Strong candidates should also show how their professional experience can support Women Moving Millions’ mission of mobilising greater resources for gender equality.
