The Lead Exposure Elimination Project (LEEP) is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Industry Consultant to accelerate the transition towards lead-free paint manufacturing across Pakistan. Based in Lahore, the successful candidate will work directly with paint manufacturers, suppliers, industry associations and government stakeholders to encourage safer production practices and support the elimination of lead from paints.

About LEEP
LEEP is an impact-driven and evidence-based nonprofit organisation working to eliminate childhood lead poisoning, which affects an estimated one in three children worldwide.
The organisation primarily focuses on lead paint while also piloting interventions addressing other sources of lead exposure, including contaminated spices and cosmetics. Its approach combines research and data generation, government engagement, regulatory advocacy and direct support to manufacturers transitioning towards lead-free products.
Since its establishment in September 2020, LEEP has initiated lead-paint elimination programs in 40 countries, completed 33 paint studies and worked with government agencies in 18 countries towards establishing lead-paint regulations.
LEEP has also made significant progress engaging manufacturers in 22 countries, while contributing to reductions in lead-paint market share in countries including Ghana, Malawi and Pakistan.
The organisation’s work has been recognised by major philanthropic and international institutions. Founders Pledge estimates that LEEP’s approach costs approximately US$1.66 to prevent one child’s lead exposure in expectation, while LEEP’s own analysis estimates that its first 13 established programs cost less than US$5 per DALY equivalent averted.
LEEP is also a partner of the World Health Organization and UN Environment Programme’s Global Alliance to Eliminate Lead Paint and a member of the Partnership for a Lead-Free Future.
About the Role
The Industry Consultant will play an important role in expanding LEEP’s engagement with Pakistan’s paint industry. The position will focus particularly on manufacturers, suppliers and industry associations across Punjab, including smaller and informal manufacturers that may be difficult to identify or engage through conventional channels.
The successful candidate will work alongside LEEP’s existing industry consultant and the wider Pakistan team to build trusted relationships with manufacturers, understand their production challenges and provide practical support for the transition to lead-free formulations.
The role combines field research, industry engagement, technical assistance, government advocacy and reporting. It is particularly suited to someone who understands how businesses operate and can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Industry Engagement and Technical Support
The consultant will:
• Conduct secondary research and verification to identify paint manufacturers, particularly in underserved or poorly mapped manufacturing clusters across Punjab
• Conduct market visits and collect paint samples according to LEEP’s established sampling protocols
• Build and maintain relationships with paint manufacturers, including small and informal producers
• Engage manufacturers through meetings, calls and written communication to encourage the removal of lead from paint
• Work closely with LEEP’s Program Manager and Program Consultant to support lead-free reformulation
• Engage ingredient suppliers and facilitate stronger connections between suppliers and manufacturers
• Organise and deliver industry workshops and presentations
• Provide practical assistance that helps manufacturers understand and overcome barriers to lead-free production
Government Advocacy and Stakeholder Support
The successful candidate will also contribute to government engagement by:
• Preparing briefing materials and supporting meetings with government representatives
• Conducting follow-ups with government stakeholders through written and face-to-face communication
• Participating in industry-government meetings
• Supporting efforts to strengthen collaboration between regulators and the paint industry
Research, Monitoring and Reporting
The position will involve significant data and reporting responsibilities, including:
• Supporting research activities and paint studies through fieldwork and sample collection
• Generating reliable information from manufacturer and market visits
• Monitoring manufacturers’ progress towards lead-free reformulation through a dedicated tracking system
• Preparing industry reports
• Contributing relevant information and insights to donor communications
Who Should Apply?
LEEP is seeking an individual with a strong combination of industry knowledge, relationship-building ability, commercial understanding and technical communication skills.
The ideal candidate will have experience in areas such as:
• Technical consulting, quality improvement or supply-chain management

Additional experience that could strengthen an application includes:
• At least three years of experience in industry relations, sales, business development or manufacturing

• Existing relationships with manufacturers, trade associations or business communities
• A background in chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science
• Experience in paint, coatings or related chemical industries
• Knowledge of international quality standards and regulatory frameworks
• Experience supporting product reformulation or regulatory compliance
• Experience organising industry workshops, events or capacity-building activities
• Understanding of manufacturing supply chains in Pakistan
