Applications are open for the One Million Black Women: Black in Business 2026. Black in Business is a free business education program dedicated to equipping sole proprietors with the tools necessary to turn their business potential into business growth. The program helps sole proprietors learn how to price their product or service, hire their first employee, understand their finances, and so much more.
The Black in Business curriculum has been developed in partnership with the NYU Stern School of Business, and covers the following topics:
- Module 1 – Positioning for Growth
- Module 2 – Mastering the Art of (Customer) Attraction
- Module 3 – Keys to Effective Marketing
- Module 4 – Optimizing Your Operations for Growth
- Module 5 – Managing Your Financial Statements
- Module 6 – Financial Planning & Projection
- Module 7 – Pricing & Profits
- Module 8 – Access to Capital

Eligibility
The program is open to all sole proprietors interested in creating jobs, opportunity, and economic growth in their communities.
Specific eligibility requirements:
- Sole proprietorship (no other full-time employees)
- Minimum revenue of $25,000 in the past 12 months
- Revenue-generating business
- Operating for at least one year
Application
To complete the application, you will need:
- Business information including revenue, description of your business, services, and customers
- Why you are interested in the program
- Schedule C from last year’s filed personal tax return, federal business tax return, or last year’s profit and loss statement
