Applications are open for the DW Akademie launches the Young Media Makers Fellowship Program 2026. DW Akademie is launching the Young Media Makers Fellowship Program in the Western Balkans that provides training and capacity building to 12 Young Media Professionals (aged 25-35) from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia or Serbia.
The program consists of a series of 12-modules of seminars, workshops, mentoring and professional trips and is implemented in the period from mid-2026 to end of 2028. The program covers key areas such as innovative media formats and strategies for engaging younger audiences, particularly in rural areas. With expert-led sessions, study visits, hands on workshops, and collaborative projects, the Young Media Makers Fellowship Program empowers participants to become media leaders.
Benefits
- Participation in the program is free of charge. Travel expenses, accommodation and meals will be borne by DW Akademie.
- In case selected applicants need visa to one of the countries where the activities take place, DW Akademie will support with invitation letters.
- Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate.
Eligibility
- Open to young media professional between 25 and 35 years old (born between 1.06.1991 – 1.06.2001) from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia or Serbia.
- Work experience in journalism, working with the media, project management or similar activities related to the media.
- Good English skills (working language of the program).
- High motivation and interest in the development of media content for the target group, which are young people up to 30 years.
- An original project idea explaining how you can bring young people in rural areas and the media together in your home country.
- Participation in all 12 modules offered; some modules will require a trip abroad to Western Balkan countries and to countries of the European Union.
- Availability for the fellowship program kick-off in Belgrade from 30 May – 3 June 2026.
