About the Finance Associate Role
The Uganda Finance Associate will provide critical financial analysis and strategic reporting that supports informed decision-making across the Uganda programme. The role also involves close collaboration with the Grants Finance team to oversee donor-funded projects, ensuring compliance, accurate budgeting and effective financial reporting.
The successful candidate will become a trusted financial partner to programme leadership, helping shape long-term strategy while maintaining strong governance and accountability standards.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Analysis
The Finance Associate will lead the development and continuous refinement of five-year financial forecasts and planning models. Working closely with the Country Director and Global Finance team, the role ensures alignment between operational, financial and impact assumptions to support strategic growth.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Developing long-term financial models and scenario analyses.
- Advising senior leadership on strategic financial decisions.
- Leading monthly Budget vs Actual (BVA) reporting.
- Producing financial performance analysis for management and stakeholders.
Grants Management
The role will oversee the financial management of Uganda-focused donor grants throughout their lifecycle. Responsibilities include budget development, expenditure monitoring, donor reporting and compliance with funding requirements.
The Finance Associate will also:
- Prepare donor budget forecasts and financial reports.
- Monitor grant spending against approved budgets.
- Manage fund flow models to maintain liquidity for restricted activities.
- Coordinate with Finance, Field and Fundraising teams on grant implementation.
Compliance and Financial Controls
A key aspect of the position involves strengthening financial governance across the Uganda programme. The successful candidate will oversee tax compliance, statutory reporting and audit coordination while identifying opportunities to improve internal controls and reduce financial risk.
Core duties include:
- Preparing Uganda tax returns and statutory filings.
- Serving as the primary liaison during internal and external audits.
- Identifying control weaknesses and recommending process improvements.
- Supporting the implementation of robust financial governance frameworks.
Qualifications and Experience
One Acre Fund is looking for finance professionals with strong technical expertise and strategic analytical skills.
Applicants should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
- More than four years of progressive experience in finance, consulting or strategic advisory.
- A fully qualified ACCA or CPA (Uganda) certification.
- Experience managing multi-currency donor grants.
- Strong proficiency in Power BI, Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel, including financial modelling and data visualization.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Experience working with donor-funded programmes and producing executive-level financial insights will be highly advantageous.
