About the Programme Coordinator Role
The Programme Coordinator – Organisational Development & Advocacy will lead the implementation of organisational development and advocacy activities within Restless Development Uganda’s youth employment and market systems portfolio.
The position will strengthen the capacity, sustainability, governance, and influence of youth-led organisations and other civil society partners. The coordinator will work closely with the Programme Manager, consortium partners, government institutions, private-sector actors, and other ecosystem stakeholders.
The role will also manage the Programme Officer – Organisational Development and Advocacy, providing technical guidance, coaching, and performance support to ensure high-quality programme delivery.
Key Responsibilities
The Programme Coordinator will lead organisational capacity-strengthening initiatives for youth-led organisations, including assessments, training, coaching, mentoring, peer learning, and technical assistance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing organisational strengthening strategies for youth-led organisations.
- Assessing partner capacity and identifying institutional development priorities.
- Supporting governance, leadership, financial management, safeguarding, monitoring, advocacy, and organisational sustainability.
- Coordinating youth-led advocacy initiatives focused on employment, entrepreneurship, and economic inclusion.
- Supporting partners to use evidence and youth experiences to influence policies and decision-making.
- Building relationships with government, private-sector, civil society, and other stakeholders.
- Representing Restless Development in relevant national, district, and community forums.
- Monitoring programme implementation and documenting results, lessons, and success stories.
- Supporting monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning activities.
- Preparing technical reports and contributing to donor reporting.
- Managing programme budgets and ensuring transparent, cost-effective use of resources.
- Line managing and mentoring the Programme Officer.
- Promoting safeguarding, diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout programme implementation.
Eligibility and Required Qualifications
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Organisational Development, Public Administration, Community Development, Political Science, or a related discipline.
Candidates must have at least three years of relevant experience coordinating organisational development, capacity strengthening, governance, or advocacy programmes within Uganda’s development sector.
Applicants should also demonstrate experience working with Youth-Led Organisations, Community-Based Organisations, civil society organisations, or grassroots institutions.
Additional essential skills and experience include organisational capacity strengthening, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, programme coordination, budget tracking, reporting, facilitation, networking, and relationship management.
Candidates should have a strong understanding of safeguarding, gender equality, diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office and programme reporting tools. Excellent written and spoken English is required.
Experience with donor-funded programmes, consortiums, youth livelihoods, entrepreneurship, systems strengthening, and Uganda’s youth development policy landscape will be an advantage. A relevant postgraduate qualification is desirable.
Salary and Contract
The successful candidate will receive a salary of UGX 73,299,474 gross per annum. Restless Development states that it uses a transparent global salary scale designed to provide a fair and comparable pay structure across its locations.
The appointment will be subject to the availability of programme funding.
