Development Gateway: An IREX Venture (DG) is seeking an entry-level Program Coordinator to support a major three-year international programme focused on improving the effective use of artificial intelligence within government agencies. Based in Washington, DC, this full-time hybrid position offers early-career professionals an opportunity to contribute to global digital transformation, monitoring and evaluation, project coordination and international development.

The successful candidate will join a globally distributed nonprofit organization with staff located in more than 10 countries, working alongside experts in data, technology, governance and public sector innovation.

About Development Gateway

Development Gateway is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening decision-making, transparency and public service delivery through better data and digital tools. For more than 20 years, the organization has partnered with governments, donors and development institutions across 70+ countries to design digital solutions that improve the collection, analysis and use of data.

Its expertise spans agriculture, health, aid management, open contracting, procurement, extractive industries, information management systems and digital transformation. The organization combines research, technology development, capacity building and policy advisory services to help partners solve complex development challenges through evidence-based approaches.

About the Program Coordinator Role

The Program Coordinator will support a multinational programme aimed at enhancing the adoption and effectiveness of artificial intelligence across government institutions. Reporting within the programmes team, the coordinator will provide operational, administrative and project management support while collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders across multiple countries.

This transversal role is ideal for an organized and proactive professional who enjoys managing multiple priorities, coordinating international teams and contributing to high-quality programme delivery. The position combines communications, monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management, budgeting and event coordination within a dynamic international environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Program Coordinator will play an important role in ensuring the smooth implementation of programme activities and deliverables.

Primary responsibilities include tracking project outputs and monitoring progress against monitoring and evaluation frameworks, contributing to quarterly performance reports and preparing internal programme updates. The coordinator will also develop training materials, presentations and communications products, including success stories and other public-facing content under the guidance of the project team.

The role also involves coordinating project budgets and subcontractor expenditure tracking, organizing virtual and in-person events, managing schedules across distributed teams and preparing meeting summaries, action items and quality reviews of AI-generated meeting notes.

A significant responsibility will be maintaining strong knowledge management systems by organizing documentation and ensuring project materials are accurately stored within shared programme repositories.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree, while a Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience is considered an advantage. Candidates from all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply.

The organization is seeking applicants with approximately three years of relevant work experience, including internships, part-time employment or other professional experience.

Successful candidates should demonstrate experience in:

  • Project coordination and implementation
  • Budget tracking and expenditure monitoring
  • Event planning and logistics, including virtual events
  • Monitoring and evaluation processes
  • Using artificial intelligence tools for routine professional tasks
  • Working with remote or globally distributed teams
  • Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Collaborative project management platforms such as Asana or similar tools

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently are essential.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, additional experience in several areas will strengthen an application.

Development Gateway particularly values familiarity with contract or subcontract administration, global politics related to technology and governance, and regional knowledge of Southeast Asia or the Pacific Islands. Fluency in languages such as Filipino, Vietnamese or other Southeast Asian languages is also considered an asset, alongside experience in artificial intelligence analysis, data effectiveness or digital governance.

Salary and Benefits

The Program Coordinator position offers an annual salary ranging from US$55,000 to US$60,000, together with a comprehensive and generous employee benefits package.

Because many programme partners are located internationally, employees should expect to begin most workdays by approximately 8:00 AM Eastern Time to accommodate collaboration across multiple time zones.

Hybrid Work Location

This position is based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and follows a hybrid working model.

Employees divide their time between remote work and Development Gateway’s downtown office at the Open Gov Hub, a collaborative workspace for organizations advancing governance, transparency and international development.

The successful candidate will be required to work in person at least two days each week between Tuesday and Thursday, with additional office attendance when required for programme activities.

This position is not eligible for fully remote work or relocation outside the Washington, DC area. Applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States.

How to Apply Successfully

Interested candidates should submit their application through the official Development Gateway careers portal. Since applications are reviewed on a rolling basis beginning 14 September 2026, early submission is strongly encouraged.

Competitive applicants should highlight experience in project coordination, monitoring and evaluation, budget management, event logistics and working with distributed international teams. Demonstrating familiarity with AI tools, collaborative software and strong written communication will further strengthen an application.
