The 2027 Environmental Community Organising (ECO) Fellowship Program is inviting applications from emerging professionals interested in environmental peacebuilding, nature, sustainability, collective action and social justice. The funded fellowship is organised by ArtPeace: Earth, in partnership with the Network for Education and Research on Peace and Sustainability (NERPS) and supporting funders.
The programme is designed to equip emerging leaders with practical knowledge, relationships and collaborative skills for addressing environmental challenges through peacebuilding and community organising. It brings together students, early-career researchers and entry-level practitioners who are interested in the intersection of environmental sustainability, peace and justice.
Fellowship Overview
The ECO Fellowship combines online learning and relationship-building from November 2026 to February 2027 with an intensive in-person programme in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 12 to 20 March 2027.
During the online phase, selected Fellows will participate in a series of sessions focused on developing relationships among participants, establishing a shared understanding of environmental peacebuilding and preparing Fellows for the in-person programme.
The fellowship will then provide an opportunity for participants to take part in intensive training and attend the NERPS 2027 Conference in Jakarta. The conference will provide additional opportunities for Fellows to engage with researchers, practitioners and other professionals working in peace and sustainability.
