The GIZ South Africa, Lesotho & eSwatini office has announced a new vacancy for an Intern: Communications and Social Media under its JUST SA Project, which supports a just transition toward a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy.

About the GIZ South Africa, Lesotho & eSwatini JUST SA Project

The JUST SA Project is implemented by GIZ to support South Africa’s transition toward a more sustainable and inclusive economy. The initiative focuses on ensuring that climate and energy transitions are socially equitable and economically inclusive.

Key areas of the project include:

  • Supporting national, provincial, and local implementation of just transition policies
  • Strengthening stakeholder engagement across government, communities, and private sector actors
  • Promoting economic diversification and small, medium, and micro enterprise (SMME) development in Mpumalanga

Internship Role: Communications and Social Media

The Communications and Social Media Intern will support the JUST SA project team in delivering effective communication outputs and digital engagement strategies.

The role is designed for early-career applicants interested in climate communication, development work, and digital media engagement.

Key Responsibilities

The intern will be expected to assist with:

  • Development and management of social media content
  • Supporting communication campaigns and outreach activities
  • Drafting and editing communication materials
