ActionAid Bangladesh is inviting qualified candidates to apply for the position of Associate Programme Officer – Research & Documentation, an exciting opportunity for professionals interested in research, climate justice, renewable energy, policy advocacy and sustainable development.

The position is part of ActionAid Bangladesh’s Programme, Policy and Campaigns Department and falls under the organization’s Resilience and Climate Justice (RCJ) strategic priority. The successful candidate will contribute to the Just Energy Transition (JET) project, supporting research, evidence generation, documentation and programme coordination.

The position is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and is offered on a contractual basis until 30 September 2027. There is one position available.

Through the Just Energy Transition Programme, ActionAid Bangladesh is working to support equitable access to renewable energy, strengthen evidence-based policy advocacy and promote a fair and sustainable transition in Bangladesh’s energy sector.

The Associate Programme Officer will play an important role in generating and organizing evidence that can support these objectives.

What Will the Successful Candidate Do?

The role combines research, documentation, programme support, knowledge management, advocacy and stakeholder engagement.

Approximately 40% of the role will focus on research, documentation and knowledge management. The successful candidate will support research into energy transition trends, technologies, policies and good practices. They will also assist with collecting, compiling, verifying and analysing information from field activities, studies and secondary sources.

The position will also involve preparing and supporting the development of reports, policy briefs, case studies, learning documents, presentations and other knowledge products.

Another important responsibility will be maintaining databases, archives and documentation repositories to support organizational learning and ensure project information is properly managed.

Programme Coordination and Implementation

Around 20% of the position will involve programme coordination and implementation support.

The successful applicant will assist with project activities, follow up on work plans and deliverables, and help organize field visits, workshops, consultations, seminars, dialogues and meetings.

They will also prepare meeting minutes, activity reports and progress updates while coordinating with departments such as Finance, Administration, Human Resources and Communications.

The role therefore requires someone who can combine strong research and writing abilities with practical organizational and coordination skills.

Advocacy, Communication and Capacity Building

The position will also contribute to ActionAid Bangladesh’s advocacy and communication activities.

The Associate Programme Officer will monitor national and global developments relating to energy transition, climate change and renewable energy and share relevant updates with the team.

They may also assist with preparing training materials, presentations, briefing notes and learning resources. Supporting workshops, webinars and policy dialogue events will form another part of the role.

Candidates may also contribute to publications, newsletters, digital communication products and knowledge-sharing platforms.

Stakeholder and Community Engagement

Community participation is an important component of the position.

The successful candidate will support Community-led Action Research and other evidence-generation initiatives. They will work with partners, consultants, civil society organizations, academic institutions and community groups.

The role also emphasizes ensuring that the voices of marginalized and affected communities are reflected in consultations and documentation.

Candidates should therefore be comfortable communicating with diverse stakeholders and working collaboratively across different organizations and communities.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Development Studies, Environmental Science, Public Policy, International Relations, Social Science or Economics.

Additional training in research methodology, data management, documentation, knowledge management, climate change, renewable energy or development programming will be considered an advantage.

Applicants are expected to have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in development organizations, research institutions, NGOs, think tanks or similar organizations.

Experience in research support, data collection, report writing, documentation, knowledge management and evidence generation will be particularly relevant.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Bangla and English are required. Applicants should also be comfortable using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Salary and Benefits

The position offers a monthly gross salary of BDT 63,310, along with other admissible benefits under ActionAid Bangladesh’s HROD Policy.
