ClimateWorks Foundation is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join its Finance and Grants Department in a strategic remote role supporting the organization’s global climate philanthropy mission. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead financial planning, budgeting, grant financial analysis and funding proposal development while contributing to one of the world’s leading climate-focused philanthropic organizations.
The position is classified as US Flexible, allowing exceptional candidates to work remotely from eligible locations across the United States or from the Foundation’s San Francisco office. The Finance Manager will report directly to the Senior Director of Finance and collaborate with programme, accounting, grants and philanthropic partnership teams.

About the Finance Manager Role
The Finance Manager plays a central role in safeguarding the organization’s financial integrity while supporting equitable and effective grantmaking. Working within a dynamic and highly collaborative environment, the successful candidate will oversee financial planning, forecasting, programme budgeting and financial analysis for donor proposals.
The role also contributes to the Foundation’s grantmaking process by reviewing the financial health of prospective grantees, supporting funding source administration and providing analytical insights that strengthen financial sustainability across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
The Finance Manager will provide leadership across several critical financial functions.
Financial Planning and Analysis
Primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining programme budgets, coordinating budget-to-actual reporting with the Accounting team and supporting the organization’s annual budgeting and planning process. The successful candidate will prepare detailed budgets for incoming donor proposals in collaboration with programme and philanthropic partnership teams while responding to donor budget enquiries.
The role will also contribute to cost recovery analysis, financial sustainability initiatives and pricing reports, monitor interest income across funding sources and deliver ad hoc financial analyses to support strategic decision-making.
Grants and Funding Administration
The Finance Manager will review grantee financial statements, organizational budgets and other financial documentation to assess financial position and prepare recommendations where appropriate. Additional responsibilities include reconciling funding sources, maintaining accurate financial records and supporting grants and contracts administration alongside the grants team.
Required Qualifications
ClimateWorks Foundation is seeking a highly organized and collaborative finance professional with substantial experience in financial planning and analysis.
Applicants should possess:
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of seven years of professional experience in financial planning, modelling and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- An understanding of basic nonprofit accounting principles.

Salary and Benefits
ClimateWorks Foundation offers a competitive salary based on geographic location within the United States.
The annual salary ranges are:
- Tier 1: US$120,000–130,000 (San Francisco Bay Area and New York City)
- Tier 2: US$110,000–120,000 (Other eligible US locations)
