Applications are open for the NASA Nebraska Space Grant Fellowships 2026. The goal of the NASA Nebraska Space Grant Fellowship program is to recruit students to aerospace-related research. These competitive fellowships are granted to undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in working for NASA or the aerospace industry. The fellowships require engagement in an aerospace-related project and therefore are not traditional scholarships. Students must propose a workforce development activity, research project, or similar project for the fellowship.
NASA is interested in the development of the future workforce for the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. These competitive fellowships are awarded to those students with academic achievement and demonstrated interest in STEM careers. The goal of the program is to recruit and retain students in STEM fields, providing them with workforce skills to prepare them for employment with NASA or the aerospace industry. The fellowships require engagement in STEM fields and therefore are not traditional scholarships. Students must propose a workforce development activity, research project, internship, or similar project for their fellowship.
Funding
- The total number of awards is based on annual funding from NASA. Funding levels vary based on the project, nature of the work, and level of the student (graduate or undergraduate). Generally, fellowships range from $1,000 to $7,000.
Eligibility
- Fellowships are limited to U.S. Citizens. Graduate and undergraduate students are eligible to apply, as are full- time and part-time students. This funding is not intended for students who have not yet graduated high school.
- Students must attend one of the institutions listed below during the entire timeframe of the fellowship (the fellowship may be for only one semester for students graduating in December):

- Creighton University
- Hastings College
- Metropolitan Community College
- Nebraska Indian Community College
- University of Nebraska – Lincoln
- University of Nebraska at Omaha
- University of Nebraska at Kearney
- University of Nebraska Medical Center
