Applications are open for the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) Legislative Internship 2026. Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) is implementing a 10-week full-time internship program with support from the European Union (EU) for young Nigerians who wish to gain knowledge of legislative practice and process at the National Assembly.
Founded in 2009, PLAC is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit capacity building organisation that works to strengthen democratic governance and citizens’ participation in Nigeria. Through broad-based technical assistance and training, PLAC works to promote citizens’ engagement with government institutions and to advocate for legal and policy reforms and promote transparency and accountability in policy and decision-making processes. At the core of our programming is a deep commitment to increase legislative advocacy, promote transparency and good governance, support and promote electoral reforms, enhance citizen’s access to public policies and advance anti-corruption campaigns. Over its 15 years of history, PLAC has worked and evolved into a foremost and leading institution with capacity to deliver cutting-edge research, policy analysis and advocacy.
Benefits
- Only stipends to cover transportation and lunch costs within Abuja will be provided. Other logistics expenses will be borne by the interns. It is advised that prospective interns be able to reside within Abuja or bear the cost of residing in Abuja throughout the duration of the internship, as PLAC will not provide accommodation nor relocation costs.
Eligibility
- Open to Nigerian citizen between 21 and 35 years of age
- At least a first degree in any discipline from a Tertiary Institution
- Must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Programme
- Good English writing and speaking skills
- Good computer skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Application
- Complete the online application form and upload your CV (in Microsoft Word or PDF format), saved in your name. Your CV must include your State of origin, date of birth, and NYSC service details (place of service).
- Include a “Statement of Purpose” on the last page of your CV, explaining why you wish to participate in the internship. Your CV should not exceed two (2) pages, and the Statement of Purpose should be no more than 300 words; both must be combined and uploaded as a single document, with the total length not exceeding three (3) pages.
All applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM (West Africa Time – WAT), Friday, 10 April 2026. Applications received after this deadline, or that do not comply with the stated application requirements, will not be considered.
