About the role
The successful candidate will join UCL’s Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP), contributing to a flagship programme examining the relationship between green industrial strategy, macro-financial policy, public finance and economic growth.
The project builds on the work of Professor Mariana Mazzucato and Professor Josh Ryan-Collins to develop policy frameworks that support a just and sustainable transition to net zero. The programme combines research, teaching and direct policy engagement with governments and public institutions, with lessons intended to inform ecological transition strategies globally.

Key responsibilities
The Policy Fellow will provide strategic leadership for IIPP’s ecological transition programme while producing influential research and policy outputs.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading the programme on the economics of ecological transition.
- Designing and implementing green industrial strategy initiatives.
- Managing policy projects related to green finance and investment.
- Producing policy briefs, reports and opinion articles.
- Coordinating research outputs across international programmes.
- Engaging with UK policymakers, government departments and external stakeholders.
- Supporting media engagement and strategic communications.

- Identifying opportunities to increase the policy impact of IIPP research.
