The Forum for African Women Educationalists of Zambia (FAWEZA), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, has officially opened applications for the 2027 Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training (TEVET) Bursary Programme. The initiative aims to expand access to quality tertiary education by providing 200 fully funded bursaries to young Zambians pursuing STEM-related programmes at participating TEVET institutions across the country.
Now enrolling its fourth cohort, the bursary programme will award 80% of scholarships to female students and 20% to male students, while prioritising applicants facing social and economic barriers, including refugees, persons with disabilities, orphans and young people affected by HIV/AIDS.
About the TEVET Bursary Programme
The FAWEZA–Mastercard Foundation TEVET Bursary is designed to increase equitable access to technical and vocational education for vulnerable young people in Zambia. Through financial support, the programme empowers students to develop practical skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), improving their opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and community development.
The bursary supports students enrolling in approved TEVET institutions for the 2027 academic year.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be 15–25 years old at the time of enrolment.
- Have completed Grade 12 (Ordinary Level Examinations).
- Hold an acceptance letter for a STEM-related course at a participating TEVET institution for the 2027 academic year.
- Not be receiving any other bursary or scholarship.
- Refugees and young people with disabilities may apply if they are 15–30 years old.
FAWEZA strongly encourages applications from young people experiencing social and economic disadvantages, particularly orphans, refugees, persons with disabilities and vulnerable youth.

- Lusaka Business and Technical College (Lusaka)
- Livingstone Institute of Business & Engineering Studies (Livingstone)
- Lukasha Trades Training Institute (Kasama)
- Lukupa College of Nursing and Midwifery (Kasama)
- Lewanika College of Nursing and Midwifery (Mongu)
- Malcolm Moffat College of Education (Serenje)
- Mansa School of Nursing and Midwifery (Mansa)
- Mukinge College of Nursing and Midwifery (Kasempa)
- National Vocational Rehabilitation Centre (Ndola)
- Zambia College of Agriculture (Mpika)
These institutions offer a variety of STEM and technical programmes that prepare graduates for careers in engineering, health sciences, agriculture, education and vocational industries.
Required Application Documents
Applicants must submit a complete application package containing:
- Completed FAWEZA TEVET bursary application form.
- Certified copy of Grade 12 results.
- Certified copy of National Registration Card (NRC), Refugee Certificate or Disability Card.
- Two passport-size photographs.
- Recommendation letter from a former school, church, headman, MCDSS, UNHCR, Commissioner for Refugees or ZAPD.
- A motivational letter outlining career goals and community involvement.
Incomplete applications may not be considered, so applicants are encouraged to ensure all required documents are included before submission.
