The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH) is inviting applications for a Communications, Advocacy and Regional Engagement Consultant to support its global communications, advocacy and regional engagement activities.
The position is offered as a part-time remote consultancy, requiring two days of work per week. The consultancy will run for one year, with the possibility of extension, and the successful candidate can work from home while maintaining at least four hours of overlapping working time with Central European Time (CET).

PMNCH Communications and Advocacy Consultancy
The consultant will play a versatile role supporting PMNCH’s communications, advocacy and regional programming.
The position is suited to an experienced communications and advocacy professional with strong writing and editing skills, media engagement experience and a demonstrated ability to coordinate programmes involving multiple stakeholders.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of written and digital content, maintain relationships with journalists and media organisations, support advocacy coordination and oversee selected regional activities.
A significant responsibility will also involve the end-to-end development of the PMNCH annual report, alongside other communications products.

Communications and Media Responsibilities
A major component of the consultancy will focus on strengthening PMNCH’s communications and media engagement.
The consultant will be responsible for writing and editing high-quality materials for both digital and print audiences. These may include stories, blogs, articles, reports, briefs and other communications products.
Key responsibilities include:
- Writing, editing and proofreading communications materials
- Building relationships with journalists, editors and media outlets
- Identifying opportunities for media coverage
- Pitching stories, opinion pieces and campaigns
- Developing human-interest stories highlighting PMNCH’s mission and impact
- Managing the communications calendar
- Coordinating content across social media platforms
- Editing partner-submitted content
- Supporting co-produced blogs, interviews and “Voices” pieces
- Maintaining consistency in messaging, tone and branding
The consultant will also help coordinate content across platforms including X, BlueSky, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.
Advocacy and Working Group Support
The consultant will also provide coordination support to the United MNCH Advocacy Working Group (UAWG).
This will involve working with member organisations, coordinating meetings and follow-up activities, and helping strengthen the working group’s role as a useful platform for advocacy collaboration.
The consultant will contribute to the development of advocacy and technical resources, including:
- Advocacy briefs
- Talking points
- Position papers
- Evidence products
- Other technical resources
The role will also support efforts to align UAWG advocacy priorities with PMNCH’s broader financing, accountability and regional campaigns.
Regional Engagement and Capacity Building
Another important part of the consultancy involves supporting regional programmes and advocacy initiatives.
The successful consultant will oversee selected regional activities from planning through implementation and reporting.
Responsibilities may include coordinating policy dialogues with governments, regional stakeholders and partners, developing policy briefs and organising capacity-building workshops.
The consultant may also support other regional advocacy activities and convening opportunities in collaboration with PMNCH’s regional focal points.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Applicants should have strong professional experience in communications, advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
The role requires:
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Experience developing relationships with media organisations
- Demonstrated experience securing media coverage
- Experience supporting advocacy coalitions or working groups
- Ability to develop advocacy and technical resources
- Experience designing and delivering capacity-building workshops

- Experience working with editorial calendars
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and workstreams
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Familiarity with content management systems, Mailchimp, Typeform, Brand24, Looker Studio and design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite would be an advantage.
Fluency in English is required, while French proficiency is considered an advantage, particularly because of PMNCH’s engagement across Francophone Africa.
