Applications for the Rhodes Scholarships 2027 are now open. The Rhodes Scholarship is a fully-funded postgraduate award which enables talented young people from around the world to study full-time at the University of Oxford. The Rhodes Scholarship is merit-based, with the purpose of developing public-spirited leaders, and to promote international understanding and peace through an international community of Scholars.
Established through the Will of Cecil John Rhodes in 1902, the Rhodes Scholarship was a truly visionary project for its time. Over a hundred years later, the Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest and perhaps most prestigious international scholarship programme in the world, enabling outstanding young people from around the world to undertake full-time postgraduate study at the University of Oxford (ranked first internationally by Times Higher Education for the ninth consecutive year in 2025).
Scholarship
- The Rhodes Scholarship covers University of Oxford course fees, as well as providing an annual stipend. For the 2025-26 academic year, the stipend is £20,400 per annum (£1,700 per month) from which Scholars pay all living expenses, including accommodation. Please note: this is not sufficient to cover partners or dependents.
Eligibility
- Applicants to the Scholarship should have, or be about to complete, an undergraduate degree.
- English language proficiency requirements vary based on constituency and applicant circumstances.
- To apply for the Rhodes Scholarship, you must meet or exceed the specific entry requirements of your chosen full-time graduate course at the University of Oxford.
