The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT Jodhpur) has announced applications for its Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) 2026–27, inviting outstanding Indian nationals, foreign nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) to pursue advanced research across engineering, sciences, humanities, design, management, and interdisciplinary fields.

The fellowship offers a monthly stipend of ₹80,000, a ₹50,000 annual research contingency grant, hostel accommodation (subject to availability), and an initial tenure of two years, with the possibility of a third-year extension in exceptional cases. The application deadline is 30 September 2026.

The fellowship also includes 30 days of paid leave per year on a pro-rata basis.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Indian nationals, foreign nationals, PIOs, and OCIs are eligible.
  • Hold a PhD with a first-class or equivalent academic record in the relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrate excellent research output through publications and/or patents.
  • Apply within two years of completing the PhD.
  • Applicants should preferably be 35 years or younger, with a five-year age relaxation for women and eligible reserved category candidates.
  • Candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis may apply, provided they submit the provisional PhD degree within three months of appointment.

Current IIT Jodhpur PhD scholars are not eligible to apply for this fellowship.

Selection Process

Applications will be shortlisted by the relevant academic department or school. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to deliver a presentation on their proposed research followed by an interview.

Selected fellows will undergo an annual performance review conducted by the Performance Assessment Committee (PAC). Continuation into the second year depends on satisfactory research performance, while a third-year extension is reserved for exceptional cases.
