Deadline: April 17, 2026
Applications are open for the SystemSpecs Children’s Day Essay Competition 2026. The competition was inititiated to provide a platform for students across Nigeria to create and share original ideas that can transform the country positively by leveraging technology.
2026 Essay Topic: Achieving a Safer and More Effective Transportation System in Nigeria through Information Technology
This topic invites students to explore how information technology can be used to make transportation in Nigeria safer and more effective for both people and goods, across road, rail, air, and water and maritime transport.
Participants are encouraged to think beyond infrastructure and instead focus on how digital tools can improve how transportation systems work more effectively. Students should identify real transportation problems that Nigerians experience daily – such as accidents, congestion, cargo loss, insecurity in transit, poor emergency response, or lack of safety awareness – and propose practical, technology-driven solutions that can work at scale. Solutions should be realistic, relevant to everyday Nigerian life, and implementable at scale.
The goal is not to rebuild what already exists, but to show how information, data, and digital systems can help people travel more respnsibly, authorities respond more effectively, and goods move more securely. Through this challenge, students are encouraged to think like innovators and responsible citizens, contributing ideas that support safer lives, stronger logistics, and a more efficient national transportation system.
