The FIVB Volleyball Foundation is inviting applications for an experienced Project Manager – Global Programmes to join its growing international team.
The position is designed for a highly organized and independent professional who can manage international development and social-impact projects while supporting local implementing partners to deliver measurable and sustainable results.
The role offers a remote/home-based working arrangement, making it an attractive opportunity for experienced professionals seeking to work with an international foundation without being tied to a specific office location.
The position has a workload of 80–100% FTE and an initial duration of one year. The successful candidate will report to the Executive Manager of the Volleyball Foundation and will be expected to work at least four hours per day between 09:00 and 17:00 CET/CEST.
International travel will also be required as part of the role.
The application deadline is 18 September 2026 at 23:00 CEST.
The Volleyball Foundation uses the global reach of volleyball to connect, serve and inspire communities while contributing to positive and sustainable social impact.
As the foundation expands its international project portfolio, it is seeking a practical and experienced Project Manager who can work closely with implementing organizations and help ensure projects achieve their intended outcomes.
The successful candidate will manage and support a portfolio of projects throughout their entire lifecycle, from development and onboarding through implementation, monitoring, evaluation and closure.
The role combines international project management, monitoring and evaluation, results-based management, partner capacity building and impact measurement.
What Will the Project Manager Do?
The Project Manager – Global Programmes will oversee a portfolio of projects supported by the Volleyball Foundation.
Key responsibilities will include tracking project objectives, activities, milestones, timelines, budgets, risks, results and reporting requirements.
The successful candidate will also identify implementation challenges and work with partners to develop practical corrective actions, project modifications and opportunities to improve project quality and effectiveness.
Additional responsibilities will include supporting the assessment, design and development of new project submissions.
Because the role involves managing multiple projects and working with organizations in different contexts, strong organizational and problem-solving skills will be essential.
Results-Based Management and Impact Measurement
A major component of the position involves strengthening Results-Based Management (RBM) across supported projects.
The Project Manager will help partners establish appropriate results frameworks, including outputs, outcomes, indicators, baselines and targets.
The successful candidate will monitor and analyze both quantitative and qualitative performance and support appropriate baseline, midline and endline monitoring and evaluation.
The role will also contribute to project and portfolio-level impact assessment, including the progressive use of Social Return on Investment (SROI) and other social-value methodologies.
An important objective will be ensuring that evidence and lessons learned from project implementation are used to improve existing projects and inform future programme design.
Partner Support and Capacity Building
The role goes beyond monitoring projects. The Project Manager will work directly with implementing partners to strengthen their project management and monitoring capabilities.
Responsibilities include providing practical guidance and coaching to project managers and implementing partners and identifying capacity gaps.
The successful candidate will also develop and deliver practical training, guidance and tools covering areas such as:
- Project planning
- Results-Based Management
- Key performance indicators
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Risk management
- Reporting
- Impact measurement
Particular attention will be given to smaller organizations and grassroots partners. The Project Manager will need to adapt approaches to different levels of organizational capacity and local contexts.
The ultimate goal is to strengthen local ownership and enable partners to independently manage, monitor and improve their programmes.
Project Reporting and Quality Assurance
The Project Manager will establish proportionate reporting requirements and review partner reports against agreed plans, milestones, KPIs, budgets and expected results.
Where information or supporting evidence is incomplete, the successful candidate will follow up with partners to address gaps.
The role will also involve consolidating project information into concise portfolio-level progress reports, dashboards and programme presentations.
By identifying common challenges, lessons and good practices across the portfolio, the Project Manager will help translate project experience into practical improvements for the foundation’s programmes.
International Travel and Field Support
Although the position is home-based, it involves international travel.
The successful candidate will undertake project visits and engage directly with implementing partners, project managers and other stakeholders.
During these visits, the Project Manager will assess implementation progress, results, risks and monitoring approaches.
The role will also involve providing practical project-management and capacity-building support during field visits and documenting findings, recommendations and agreed follow-up actions.
Applicants should therefore be comfortable working across different cultural and organizational environments.
Who Can Apply?
The position requires a minimum of 3–5 years of relevant professional experience managing international development, social-impact, community-development or comparable projects and programmes.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience managing multiple projects or a project portfolio, including work with small-scale programmes, grassroots organizations or locally led implementing partners.

Candidates should understand results frameworks, KPIs, outputs, outcomes and progress reporting.
Experience supporting, coaching or training project managers or implementing partners is also required.
The successful candidate must be highly organized, independent and capable of managing competing priorities in a remote and intercultural working environment.
