About OpportunityforAfrica.org

OpportunityforAfrica.org exists to close the gap between African talent and global opportunity.

Every year, thousands of scholarships, grants, fellowships, internships, jobs, and professional development programs go under‑applied or completely unnoticed by Africans who are qualified for them. Information is scattered, deadlines are easy to miss, and fake or outdated listings waste people’s time and hope.

We built OpportunityforAfrica.org to fix that.

Our Story

OpportunityforAfrica.org started with a simple frustration:
it should not be this hard for a talented African student, professional, or entrepreneur to find legitimate, relevant opportunities.

Like many Africans, we saw friends and peers miss out on life‑changing chances — not because they weren’t good enough, but because they didn’t even know those opportunities existed, or found out too late.

Instead of letting that continue, we decided to build a dedicated platform focused on one thing: helping Africans discover and access verified opportunities in one place.

What We Do

We:

  • Curate scholarships, grants, fellowships, internships, jobs, competitions, and training programs that are relevant to Africans.
  • Verify listings before publishing — checking sources, official pages, and key details.
  • Summarise complex calls for applications into clear, digestible briefs.
  • Highlight who is eligible, key benefits, deadlines, and application links.
  • Update and remove opportunities as they close or change.

Our goal is to save you hours of searching and guessing, so you can focus your energy on preparing strong applications.

Who We Serve

OpportunityforAfrica.org is built for:

  • Students looking for scholarships, fellowships, and exchange programs.
  • Young professionals seeking internships, early-career jobs, and training.
  • Mid‑career professionals interested in fellowships, executive programs, or upskilling.
  • Entrepreneurs and changemakers searching for grants, accelerators, and pitch competitions.
  • Researchers and academics looking for research funding, visiting programs, and chairs.

Whether you’re in high school, university, early in your career, or already experienced, our mission is to help you find the next step in your journey.

Our Vision

We imagine an Africa where:

  • No opportunity goes to waste because the right people never saw it.
  • Talent and potential — not geography, background, or connections — determine access.
  • Africans can confidently navigate global opportunities without fear of scams, outdated information, or hidden requirements.

In short: an Africa where information is no longer the barrier between people and the opportunities they deserve.

Our Values

  • Integrity – We only publish opportunities we have source‑checked. If something looks suspicious or unverifiable, we don’t post it.
  • Clarity – We cut through jargon and long pages to present the most important details in simple, clear language.
  • Accessibility – We focus on opportunities that are accessible to Africans across the continent and in the diaspora, with transparent criteria.
  • Equity – We care about leveling the playing field for people who don’t have networks or insider information.
  • Consistency – We update our listings regularly so you’re not wasting time on closed or outdated calls.

How We Work

For every opportunity we publish, we aim to answer:

  • Who is this for?
  • What does it offer (funding, tuition, stipend, training, networks, etc.)?
  • What are the eligibility criteria?
  • When is the deadline?
  • How do you apply, and where is the official link?

Whenever possible, we link directly to the official page of the organization offering the opportunity, not just secondary blogs.
