Ed Bradley Journalism Fellowship – Summer 2026

Applications are open for the Ed Bradley Journalism Fellowship – Summer 2026. In the summer of 2026, the New York University Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, in partnership with the Dow Jones News Fund, will bring together an elite cohort of college journalists to New York University for a one-week workshop of intensive training and mentorship.

The mission of the Ed Bradley Fellowship is to identify and rectify the under-representation of African-American males in newsrooms across the country. There is value in people from all backgrounds being attuned to this lack of representation and the disparities that may result from it. The support of diverse allies is critical to effecting meaningful change toward equitable representation in newsrooms.

Benefits

  • Twenty students will be chosen from a highly competitive pool of applicants to attend this workshop in June 2026. To ensure the economic diversity of workshop participants – program instruction, housing, meals, and transportation costs to attend the workshop are provided for every participating student.

Eligibility

  • The Ed Bradley Fellowship welcomes all U.S. college students who appreciate the mission to increase the representation of Black males in journalism to apply, regardless of their identity or background.
  • Students must have completed their freshman year by the summer 2025.

Application

The deadline to apply is March 1, 2026. Applicants will receive decisions around early April. This fellowship will take place from June 8-14, 2026.
