Fulbright-Nehru fellows can be affiliated with recognised higher education institutions across India, except for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Certain protected or restricted areas may also require prior approval from the Government of India.
Under Indian government regulations, scholars must be affiliated with recognised institutions of higher education approved by the relevant authorities, including institutions accredited by bodies such as the University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Medical institutions must meet the applicable accreditation requirements.
USIEF will finalise affiliations after selection and may change a proposed host institution if the original affiliation is considered unsuitable. Applicants who have not secured an affiliation may receive assistance from USIEF in identifying an appropriate host institution.
