Bodmando Consulting Group is expanding its pool of evaluation professionals and is inviting experienced consultants from any country to submit expressions of interest for upcoming remote evaluation assignments. The opportunity is particularly relevant to Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) professionals with strong experience in conducting evaluations across low- and middle-income countries.

The consultancy offers an opportunity for qualified professionals to join Bodmando’s network of trusted evaluation advisers and contribute to independent research and evaluation assignments across diverse development sectors. The organisation is seeking consultants who can provide technical expertise, support field research activities, strengthen data quality, and contribute to high-quality evaluation deliverables.

The position is remote, although consultants may be engaged to support evaluation activities within their respective countries depending on the requirements of individual assignments.

About the Evaluation Consultant Role

Bodmando’s Evaluation Unit is seeking experienced professionals to join its consultant pool in preparation for upcoming projects. Selected consultants may contribute to evaluations covering a broad range of development themes.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluation consultants will work as part of multidisciplinary teams and may be responsible for supporting different stages of evaluation assignments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the training of data collectors on research tools, safeguarding requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Supporting the translation, adaptation, and pilot testing of research instruments.
  • Identifying suitable local partners, stakeholders, and research participants within the consultant’s country.
  • Organising, implementing, or supervising field enumerators during data collection.
  • Conducting back checks, high-frequency checks, spot checks, and other data-quality control activities.
  • Conducting data quality assurance to ensure that information collected is accurate, reliable, and suitable for analysis.
  • Reviewing relevant research documents, programme materials, and other secondary sources.
  • Participating in interviews, focus group discussions, stakeholder consultations, and related research activities.
  • Supporting the preparation of inception reports, evaluation reports, and other project deliverables.
  • Providing technical expertise in evaluation methodologies, including Contribution Analysis and Most Significant Change, among other appropriate approaches.
  • Performing additional evaluation-related responsibilities assigned by the Global Programmes Manager.

Candidate Profile and Experience

The opportunity is classified as a Monitoring and Evaluation consultancy and is targeted at professionals with approximately 5–9 years of experience.

Strong candidates are expected to have practical experience in evaluation, research, data collection, quality assurance, stakeholder engagement, or related development-sector functions. Experience working in low- and middle-income countries and familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies can be particularly relevant.

Consultants should also be comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and supporting assignments that may involve multiple countries, sectors, and stakeholders.
